Dear Family and Friends:

It is hard to believe that Sharing Life - The Laura L. Neumann Foundation has been in existence and helping families for the past 10 years! It is incredible what our all-volunteer organization has accomplished during this time! Did you know that:

• Nearly $200,000.00 has been raised to support our mission of helping people going through the transplant process through family grants, financially supporting initiatives that raise public awareness about organ donation, and liver disease research (specifically Hepatitis C). More than 125 family grants have been given out to families in need.

• Nearly 4,000 people have attended our annual walk/run events over the past 9 years.

So many people's lives have been positively touched by the Sharing Life Foundation. Thank you to all of the volunteers that have made this possible! We are making a real difference in the lives of real people. I want to share a few real life stories with you.

• A 33-year-old father donated one of his kidneys to his 2-year-old daughter. He has another daughter who also has had a kidney transplant. He will be off of work for six weeks post-transplant. He receives no income from his full-time industrial dry cleaning job while he is off of work. We answered his request for a grant to help pay for his rent.

• I received a phone call from a social worker at the University of Minnesota Hospital while I was having lunch with my son, Jacob. The social worker asked if we could help a 25-year-old man who was in the hospital clinic unable to get his transplant medications because he couldn't afford them. With tears in my eyes I said yes! I told Jacob about the phone call and said we would help the man by paying his bill with the money we raised from the Sharing Life walk/run. Jacob said he thought the walk/run was just so people could play games and visit with other people.

Well, the walk/run does both! So please join us this year - at this very special walk/run - as we celebrate 10 successful years of helping others, playing games, and visiting with people! Our 10th Annual Sharing Life Walk/Run event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at beautiful Lake Phalen in St. Paul. Help us make this 10th Annual Sharing Life Walk/Run the biggest success ever!
